Arts Life

The arts come ALIVE at Redding Christian School because we believe every student is a masterful creation, made to live and express the craftsmanship of our amazing Creator!

We have a comprehensive K-6th grade music program which includes vocal and performance technique, music theory, instrumentation, listening and appreciation, as well as a whole lot of fun! The elementary ages participate in class chapels, Christmas productions and all-school spring musicals.

We are the only school in Shasta County offering the opportunity for students aged 9 through 18 to be in the same full-scale, Broadway style production! Every fall, since 2005, we have produced these fall musicals for the Cascade Theatre stage. These shows are performed for the public and have drawn a following from not only our school and parents, but community members as well.

Choir

The Junior High and High School also have a vocal performance elective. Students enrolled in these classes learn a variety of musical styles, vocal technique, theory and performance skills. They participate in chapels, Christmas concerts and Spring concerts, as well as traveling to share their voices with the elderly and disabled.

Band

This is our fourth year and we continue to grow! Music begins in the 5th grade and we now have over 70 instrumentalist taking part in our fantastic program! Students can learn to play with top-notch instruction and guidance, as well as joyful camaraderie and good spirited competition. We have classes for beginning, through high-school level musicians. Our high school sports pep band, the RCS ROAR! is a favorite at games and pep rallies alike. Not only do all band students participate in two beautiful concerts, the concert band goes ontour every spring. Oh, and don't forget to watch for them at the Lighted Christmas and Redding Rodeo Parades! We currently have a Beginning and Concert Band.

Drama

Our Junior and Senior High Spring Drama has been a long-standing favorite for many years. Drama students embark on the production of plays ranging from literary classics to light-hearted contemporary pieces every spring. Under the creative direction of Janet Henry, these plays showcase the broad and exciting range of talent that continues to make its way to our RCS stage.

The students are rehersing for Tom Sawyer to be performed in the Spring.
